LOCAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
LOCAL 524

November 30, 2006

1.                   Meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon.

2.                   Yasmin advised our finances were in good shape.

3.                   The by-laws were again discussed and it was decided that we would bring them forward at a General meeting and pass them at that time.

4.                   Two Trustee Reports have to be submitted to OPSEU Head Office.   We will need to have this done in order to get our dues rebate.

5.                   The first meeting of the LERC took place on November 2^nd.  Once the minutes are received, they will be posted on our website.

6.                   Congratulations are in order for Liisa Glover for the excellent job she did getting our website up and running.  Everyone agrees the site is easier to navigate.  See www.local524.org.

7.                   The Christmas vouchers were ordered from A & P.

8.                   The 50/50 draw will be held on December 8^th and will then be deferred until February, 2007.

9.                   Since there was really no need to hold a general membership meeting, we will hold one in the New Year to get our by-laws passed.  Attendance at general meetings are very low for this local.  The LEC will have to try to spark some more interest in the New Year to get members to attend.

10.               As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.

11.               The next LEC meeting will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2007.  Please mark this on your calendars.

Meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon.

Since Yasmin was absent, an update on our financial status was unavailable.

A draft of local by-laws was given to each LEC member for comments and suggestions.  Suggestions were received from Liisa which will be discussed at the next LEC meeting.

The Trustee Report has still not been submitted to OPSEU Head Office. We will need to have this done in order to get our dues rebate.

Lois and Liisa advised the LEC that we now have a Local Employee Relations Committee and attended our first pre-meeting.  The members of this Committee are Liisa, Lois and Barb from OPSEU side and Rosalie Reis, Claudette Charles and Beverly Leonard on the management side. The first meeting will take place on November 2^nd.  We will discuss workplace issues in order that management is aware and takes the appropriate action.  The Committee will meet four times per year.  Any suggestions for agenda items is welcomed.

We had a short discussion about what to do for members at Christmas this year and everyone was of the opinion that the vouchers were the best route to go. Lois will prepare the posting.

Lois advised that we were due to have a General Meeting.  A proposed date will be canvassed with the LEC for sometime in early December after Lois and Liisa attend the Regional meeting.  Lois will book call the hall on LaPlante Street to see what openings they have for a meeting from 12:00 to 2:00.

As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
